They say Ulfric Stormcloak murdered the high king with his voice! Shouted him apart!

The Dragonborn psyker is primarily built around surge staff crit, but also invests in EP Smite and Venting Shriek to double team FUBAR situations (despite smite and soulblaze not being able to crit). If you want to rely on Smite more and the Electro staff less, then you can replace much of the crit in this build with other utility.

The Electro Staff

Surge staff is the core of this build. It deals very high damage to a small number of targets, and is more effective against armor but will still 1-shot many specials at range. Use it against Elite/Armor packs that are not overwhelming your team, specialists, and shooters.

Smite

Smite is there as a panic button. It makes up for Surge's weakness against large groups. High peril resistance and venting shout make smite last much longer.

Note that despite saying "enemies electrocuted by you" in Enfeeble's description, it only applies to Smite electrocution and doesn't apply the buff in other electic attacks. It also ends immediately once you stop smiting.

Illisi

This sword has the best horde clear. Use it instead of Smite when you can, you help your team more by killing the enemy than stunning them unless the team is overwhelmed or there's lots of specials mixed in.

Deflector is not necessary for this build and you can easily roll without it.

You can also use a dueling sword to great effect. It can be built for great boss damage or to be functional for horde clear.

Other force swords work fine too. Deimos and Obscurus are both better against brutes but weaker against hordes.

Venting Shriek

If you're using it for damage, try to get to 90% peril so you generate the full 6 stacks of soulblaze. You can also use it for an emergency stagger, or if you have no Warp charges use it on whatever you can if you think you'll get it back in time.

In Fire Reborn will give you stacks for anything that dies while having stacks of soulblaze, they don't have to die directly to the soulblaze damage. This lets you pretty reliably get multiple stacks any time you hit 30+ enemies. Psychic Vampire is also an option and has higher overall WC generation but when using it players tend to hold onto their skill to not lose stacks which isn't as useful.

Trauma Staff

This build also works very well with a trauma staff, ideally with Blazing Spirit and Warp Nexus for reliable soulblaze application. You won't kill specialists as fast but it works fine if you spam primary fire at them.
